- Connect the FC connectorized single mode fiber to the source
- Connect the other end to the HP 8153A
- Make sure that there is power.
- What is the power?
- What is the maximum power on the Agilent 86140B?
- Is the power less than the maximum power?
- Remove the fiber from the HP8153A and connect it to the Agilent 86140B
- Find the laser peak
- If the laser peak is not showing:
- Hit the wavelength button
- Hit the SPAN soft-key
- Increase the span until you see the laser peak
- Zoom in on the spectrum
- Hit the CENTER WL soft-key
- Hit the SPAN soft-key
- Decrease the span until you are at the desired resolution
(You may need to hit the CENTER WL soft-key)
- Save the data to disk
- Hit the SAVE/RECALL button
- Hit the SAVE/RECALL soft-key
- Hit the SAVE soft-key
- Click on:
- TRACE(S) ONLY
- FLOPPY DISK
- MANUAL
- Hit CHOOSE FILE TO SAVE soft-key
- Name the file
- Hit SAVE FILE soft-key
- The file *.CSV contains the data and information about the trace
- Of primary interest is:
- START
- STOP
- LENGTH (pts)
- Date (INDEX, A)
